XOCO chocolate 3D printer

XOCO is a 3d-printer that can create customised objects in chocolate, aimed at innovative restaurants, serious hobby cooks and their guests. Current 3d-printers are usually technical, business-like objects and with this project we wanted to show that also in this category it is possible to create a product which not only works great, but feels right in the food-centred environments it is intended for.

Ghost Spinning Top

Ghost is a lightweight, 3d-printed stainless steel spinning top unlike any you’re likely to have seen. Ghost already looks pretty good when it’s resting; but take it for a spin and it creates a fascinating, semi-transparent outline of a top.

Ghost’s wiry structure also makes for a very efficient spinning top geometry: it can spin for about 1.5 minutes - pretty incredible for a 10 gram top. A smaller version of Ghost is also available, weighing only 4 grams and spinning for up to a minute.

It’s manufactured in one go – including the hinges that lock into place when the frame is opened – so except for the lenses there is no assembly whatsoever.

One In A Million Bird

Every single bird from our One In A Million Bird series grows into a unique shape and character; ensuring that only one like yours will exist, ever.

A computer algorithm creates a new combination of posture and body type for every product. Each ring contains a unique embossed number representing which bird, out of a million possible combinations, is yours.

The Wrap

If you are from Europe and have a recent iPhone, you will probably recognize the charger shown here. You may also have noticed that you can almost wind your USB cable around it - but not quite, frequently resulting in pocket spaghetti.

I realized that one end of the charger is already perfectly fit for the job, and all you really need is the same shape on the other side as well. The Wrap provides just that, clipping securely onto the USB plug.
